Welcome to Respira!

Running? Exhausting. Weightlifting? Heavy. Stretching? Painful. Nutrition? Boring.

But what if I told you that these activities could be seen differently?

Running? Energizing! Weightlifting? Empowering! Stretching? Calming! Nutrition? Enriching!

For years, I struggled with shifting my mindset about health and fitness. It wasn’t until I was diagnosed with a gastrointestinal disease that I truly grasped the complexity of our bodies and the importance of taking care of them. This realization inspired the creation of Respira, a platform designed to provide resources for launching your health and fitness journey while also bringing you along mine!

Before we embark on this journey together, let me introduce myself. I’m Vanessa Diaz, a graduate student based out of the Rio Grande Valley. I am part of Lamar University’s online accelerated Master of Science in Strategic Communication program and set to graduate in Spring 2025. In my spare time, I enjoy running 5Ks, spending time at the beach, and baking. I love balancing a run of 3-6 miles with a sweet treat. 😋

Now, onto the exciting stuff! Wellness has evolved from a basic necessity to an overwhelming ideal. Merriam-Webster defines wellness as the quality or state of being in good health, especially as an actively pursued goal. Active exercise and healthy eating are crucial for preventing and managing diseases like obesity, benefiting the heart, body, and mind. This blog aims to inspire sustainable healthy eating habits and consistent exercise routines. Starting this journey is often the hardest part, so I’ll be sharing well-researched content, weekly motivation, and bring you along my personal journey in battling obesity. Friends, it's time to feel FREE! 🏃🏻‍♀️🫁🍃✨

Thank you so much for being here. Be sure to follow my other socials so we can stay up to date and continue growing together! I'd love to hear about your favorite season. Mine is Fall and the “Ber” months! 👻🍂🎃
