Struggling with Staying Consistent? Let's talk about it!

Hey Friends,

Let’s be real—staying consistent with fitness can sometimes feel like a rollercoaster ride. I can personally attest to this. I just started a job recently and have definitely been putting off my workouts after work and even struggling with getting my daily steps in. Just as much as I want to promote health and wellness to y'all, it's so much more important to keep it transparent with you. Your wellness journey is a lifetime commitment, so it's okay to sometimes have off-days, what matters more is getting back on the right track! With that being said, let's dive into 4 practical ways to maintain your health and fitness goals.

1. Plan Meals: *Trigger Warning* When I first started my fitness journey, I thought I needed to cut out all my favorite foods. I became so restrictive that I developed a binge eating disorder. It wasn't pretty--actually it deteriorated my self esteem, digestive system, gut health, etc. When I got help, the first advice I received from my doctor was to eat more. My whole life I thought I had to eat less, but by incorporating nutritious foods such as fruits, veggies, protein, and more I was able to enjoy my favorite desserts so much better. By planning meals, you can eat so much more intentional and avoid mindless eating that usually happens when you're in a pickle during lunch rush or watching your favorite TV show.

2. Set Practical Goals: Everyone has a busy schedule, and it can seem overwhelming to block time into pouring into yourself. But when you set practical, mini goals, you are able to acheive them much faster and feel motivated to set additional goals. For example, instead of saying, "I want to lose 40 pounds," try adjusting your goals to say, "I want to lose 4-5 pounds within the next month." By acheiving this small goal, you will be motivated to create another small goal.

3. Win Together: It is so easy to be discouraged to work out every day, but when you surround yourself with other friends or family members that have similar goals in mind then you all can motivate each other to reach your goals. Rome was not built in one day, and neither will you be. That's why I encourage you to bring friends for the ride in building your best self.

4. Rest and Recover: As much as you work out and eat healthy, you are doing such a dissersive to yourself if you do not properly rest. Incorporate more active rest days into your fitness regimen and include stretching, walking, ice plunge, or massages. And most importantly, get at least 8 hours of sleep to give your muscles enough time to recover.

Remember, your journey should not feel like a chore. It should be fun and exciting because you are building yourself a better you! Have questions? Feel free to ask me via Instagram @RespiraRGV. Hope to talk soon, friend and remember to Feel FREE! 🤭
